Dato' Kamarudin bin Meranun born in Jalan Raja Mahmud, KampungBaru. He received his early education at the Primary School Jalan Gurney. On top of excellent results at the primary school level, he offered to Mara Junior Science College, Kuantan, and Pahang. After completing secondary school, he continued his studies at InstitutTeknologi MARA (ITM), which is now known as UniversitiTeknologi MARA (UiTM). He obtained her Diploma in Actuarial Science with great success. He then continued his studies for a higher level in Bachelor of Science in Finance in 1986 and to get a Master’s in Business Administration from Central Michigan University in 1987.

The key to the success of Air Asia is the team oriented spirit between him and Datuk Seri Anthony Fernandes, they complement each other to form Air Asia. With this spirit, they make Air America, a company known globally. His cooperation and Air Asia staff who share an understanding of the principles of branding cheap and appreciation to workers also among the causes of success. No one is more superior in the business and everybody has an equal say without any repercussions.
